DESCRIPTION:

This medication is a multivitamin and iron product used to treat or prevent vitamin deficiency due to poor diet, certain illnesses or during pregnancy. Vitamins and iron are important building blocks of the body and help keep you in good health. It’s essential for baby’s spine and brain development, especially during your first few weeks of pregnancy.

INDICATIONS:

As a dietary adjunct in nutritional stress associated with preconception, pregnancy and lactation.

DOSAGE:

One tablet daily or as directed by physician.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

This product is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Folic acid may obscure pernicious anemia, in that hematologic remission can occur while neurologic manifestations remain progressive. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of use/abuse of alcohol, liver problems, stomach/intestinal problems (e.g. ulcer, colitis). Folic acid may affect certain laboratory tests for vitamin B12 deficiency without treating this anemia. Untreated vitamin B12 deficiency may result in serious nerve problems (e.g. peripheral neuropathy).

SIDE EFFECTS:

Constipation, diarrhea or upset stomach may occur. These effects are usually temporary and may disappear as your body adjusts to this medication. Allergic sensitization has been reported following both oral and parenteral administration of folic acid.
